WASTE MANAGERS BIDDING FOR BUSINESS OSCARS

CSG make award history with trio of top three places
Independent waste management company Cleansing Service Group, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary, is bidding for a hat-trick of top business Oscars.
The Fareham-based privately-owned firm, which began life as a one-man business in 1934, has become the only company ever to reach the final three in all three categories of the Hampshire Business Awards which are now in their 19th year.
The final short-lists have just been announced and CSG is a top contender for the Hampshire Company of the Year title which will go to the firm showing all round business excellence.
CSG is also flying the waste industry flag in an award for Innovation where the judges have been impressed by the company’s recently-announced trio of pioneering processes for the disposal of hazardous treated timber, recovery of non-ferrous metals and safe disposal of contaminated industrial wipes.
And there’s another top three place in this year’s Management Team of the Year category which aims to highlight “leadership, drive and commitment along with the ability to think and plan ahead.”
CSG has grown to become the UK’s second-largest independent industrial and domestic environmental waste management group following a programme of business acquisition which has seen the company take over other long-established major players in the sector such as Lanstar, Lloyds Environmental and J & G Environmental, the print waste specialists.
It is also market leader in the emptying and servicing of off-mains domestic drainage systems, carrying out some 70,000 clearances every year.
The company recently moved into a new headquarters building, reported increased turnover and record pre-tax profits, and announced a £12 million capital investment programme to replace its entire transport fleet.
Winners of the Hampshire Business Awards will be announced at an awards ceremony on October 8.
